We were honored to host both Senator Jack Reed and Governor Gina Raimondo as they visited our Explore Design and Design/Build programs at the Providence Career and Technical Academy to learn more about our programs supported by REAL JOBS RI, the Governor's Workforce Board, and the Hasbro Summer Learning Initiative. Thanks to both elected officials for recognizing the importance of training a new generation of designers to help move RI forward!
DownCity Design is thrilled to announce that we have been awarded a federal 21st Century Community Learning Center grant through the RI Department of Education to deepen our partnership with the Providence Career and Technical Academy. The DownCity Design Studio at PCTA will offer year-round after school and summer programming for up to 190 PCTA students each year. The Design Studio will offer opportunities for students to explore career pathways, improve academic achievement, learn valuable workforce skills, and internalize the design process as an approach to problem-solving in school and in life beyond.
