Summer Communications Intern (RISD Off-Campus Federal Work Study)
DownCity Design is seeking a part-time Summer Communications Intern to help us share the exciting work that DCD is doing with our existing friends and fans, and help us expand our reach to new audiences. The Communications Intern will assist us with community outreach, program documentation, and social media posts for our 6-week Summer Design Studios! Days: July 6 - August 14 | Monday-Friday (no Wednesdays)
Times: 9 am - 3 pm during Summer Design Studios (8-20 hours weekly)
Location: Providence Career Technical Academy |41 Fricker St, Providence, RI
Compensation: $16-18/hour (covered by RISD Federal Work Study)

YOUTH PROGRAMS
PCTA Conversation Club Volunteers (Part-Time)
DownCity Design is seeking bilingual (English/Spanish) volunteers to join our weekly Conversation Club! This afterschool program serves Multilingual Learners with limited English proficiency at Bridge Academy, housed within Providence Career & Technical Academy (PCTA). The Conversation Club will run for eight weeks, meeting once a week (2-4:30pm) from March to April.
If you're passionate about language learning and want to make a direct impact on students developing their English skills, we encourage to fill out our Volunteer Interest form by February 16, 2026. We're always looking for people with a passion for youth and community-based design who also have some of the following skills. Feel free to submit an application even if there are no job postings listed.
Teaching, mentoring, or advising youth
Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop, Illustrator, & InDesign)
3D modeling in Google SketchUp, Rhino, or similar programs
Design / Build experience and carpentry skills
Construction and project management skills
Industrial design, graphic design, user experience design, or architecture background
Digital fabrication and rapid prototyping skills (3D printing, laser cutting, etc)
