YOUTH PROGRAMS
Summer Lead Design Educators (Contract)
The DownCity Design Summer Design Studio program is a unique summer internship program for Providence County high school students that takes place at PCTA (Providence Career and Technical Academy). DownCity Design (DCD) educators and staff will work together to design and deliver a 6-week experience that will get teens excited about design, provide concrete STEAM skills, and empower youth to make an impact in their communities. DownCity Design is searching for experienced Design Educators to co-lead daily design programs for high school students. Location: Providence Career and Technical Academy (41 Fricker Street, Providence)
Dates and Times: 6 weeks between July 6 - August 17, 2026; Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday (Wednesdays off), 8:30am-3:30pm. Tuesday hours extend to 4:30 PM to allow for weekly staff meetings. Additional training is mandatory prior to the program start date. Educators must be available during the six-week period of the program and for all required training. Twelve hours of additional paid training will take place during the months of May, June, and July. Times and dates of additional training to be determined.
Compensation: $21-26/hour, depending on experience.

Summer Teaching Assistants (Contract)

SAT Preparation Mentor (Part-Time)
DownCity Design is seeking an enthusiastic educator to lead an SAT preparation afterschool program for Providence high school students at Providence Career & Technical Academy. The SAT Prep Mentor will guide groups of up to 18 students through comprehensive test preparation, once a week starting in early February until late March 2026. The hourly wage for this part-time, temporary contract role is $25-30/hr, commensurate with experience.

PCTA Conversation Club Volunteers (Part-Time)
DownCity Design is seeking bilingual (English/Spanish) volunteers to join our weekly Conversation Club! This afterschool program serves Multilingual Learners with limited English proficiency at Bridge Academy, housed within Providence Career & Technical Academy (PCTA). The Conversation Club will run for eight weeks, meeting once a week (2-4:30pm) from March to April.

Teaching, mentoring, or advising youth
Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop, Illustrator, & InDesign)
3D modeling in Google SketchUp, Rhino, or similar programs
Design / Build experience and carpentry skills
Construction and project management skills
Industrial design, graphic design, user experience design, or architecture background
Digital fabrication and rapid prototyping skills (3D printing, laser cutting, etc)
