When the 2016-2017 DownCity Designers team first visited Leviton Dual Language Elementary School on the south side of Providence, it had no outdoor play space aside from a 40’ x 60’ asphalt courtyard. The teens in our program designed a Play Pavilion for the courtyard that brings together shade, seating, storage for playground toys, and planters for perennials that make the space feel greener and more alive.
