Nesting Boxes for Audubon Society of RI

Students in DownCity Discovery, our middle school program, designed brand new nesting boxes for barred owls, bluebirds, and wood ducks at the Audubon Society of RI. Our young designers practiced research skills, design thinking, and safe tool use to build these new homes for their feathered clients!

Donigian Park Gathering Space

Our 2017-18 MET School interns fabricated creative seating for Olneyville’s Donigian Park, with guidance from the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council and the Providence Parks Department. Their design provides playful seating while visually reflecting the many cultures of Providence residents.

SCLT Youth Farm Shade Shed

SCLT Youth Farm Shade Shed

Southside Community Land Trust, Providence, Summer 2017

12 Providence teens collaborated to create this shed for the
Youth Farmers at Southside Community Land Trust’s
Somerset-Hayward Farm. The Youth Farm provides teens with
an opportunity to learn about food security and urban
agriculture, and the shed will give the young farmers a place
to store their tools, gather and rest during breaks. Our young
designers loved designing for their peers!
